Tabbed Bedding
Summary
A bed equipped with a control device (Tab Bar) afixed to the headboard which permits instantaneous switching of the bed surface, and anything that rests on that surface, between a number of contexts, each content represented by a Tab on the Tab Bar. A user may select to save their current context (sheets, occupants, soft toys) as a Tab on the Tab Bar, for later use, or may choose to select a Tab from the Tab Bar, at which point the current bed context is saved as a Tab and the context is switched to the newly selected Tab. The currently selected Tab is said to be “active” and all other Tabs are said to be Dormant.
Sample Application
The Tabbing and Tab Bar mechanism is especially useful when a bed is already full of adults and a small child who has had a nightmare approaches the bed and requests entry. In this case, the current state of the bed can be saved in the Tab Bar, and the child permitted entry. Once the child is comfortably in the bed, the previous Tab can be reselected, saving the state in which the child is in the bed as a Dormant Tab. Alernatively, the state in which the child is not in the bed can be saved as the Dormant Tab, allowing the adults a good night’s sleep.
